Draw
Not every game of chess ends in a victory. There is the possibility of a draw. This can happen in various ways:
-
A stalemate is one a player can move no other pieces but the king and doing so would place the king in check..
-
Mutual agreement
-
There aren't enough pieces on the board in order for a checkmate to be possible (for example, one bishop and the king versus the enemy king).
-
A player can call a draw if a certain position is repeated three times during the course of a game.
-
Once 50 consecutive moves have passed without any exchanges being made and without any pawns having advanced..
